About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate the Tuberculosis activities for the control of the spread of TB in Halifax County. Responsibilities include projecting program needs, compiling information upon which the budget recommendations for the TB program are based, and remaining within the budget allocated to the program.

Responsibilities

• Maintain thorough knowledge of prevention, mode of transmission, screening techniques, new drug therapy, side effects of drugs, case management of TB patients, and TB contacts
• Review notifications from doctors and referrals on all patients; visit hospitalized patients and review charts when possible
• Counsel and provide basic health teaching to patients in prevention and detection of TB
• Follow up on Communicable Diseases
• Manage the Respiratory Protection Plan and Fit Testing of all employees
• Responsible for Pharmacy Management and inventory of TB medications
• Work in clinics and community shelters as needed
• Perform other duties as required

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to one of the following:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (including a Public Health Nursing rotation) from a four-year college or university and two years of Public Health Nursing experience
  • Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience
  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience, including two years of Public Health nursing experience
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina
• Appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina

Pay

The hiring range for this position is $61,082 - $99,157.
