Pay

• Starting: $33.7346 hourly ($70,168 annually)
• Step A: $34.8861 hourly ($72,563 annually)
• Step B: $35.9322 hourly ($74,739 annually)
• Step C: $37.0106 hourly ($76,982 annually)
• Step D: $38.1216 hourly ($79,293 annually)
• Step E: $39.2644 hourly ($81,670 annually)

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and one (1) year of experience in public health nursing; or
• Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) and three (3) years of experience in public health nursing.

Special Requirements

• Must be registered as a nurse in the State of Michigan or possess a temporary permit pending final registration.
• Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license and have a vehicle for use on county business.

About the Role

Performs broad professional public health nursing functions, including responsibility for planning, organizing, and performing related work. Coordinates various health programs among health and social service agencies, develops related program activities, and works independently under general supervision.

Responsibilities

• Participate in evaluating health trends and define, assess, and understand the health status of populations, determinants of health and illness, factors contributing to health promotion and disease prevention, and factors influencing the use of health services.
• Perform basic public health sciences including behavioral and social sciences, biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental public health, and prevention of chronic and infectious diseases and injuries.
• Coordinate health services among Genesee County Health Department, hospitals, physicians, other health professionals, and social agencies.
• Improve referral systems and provide greater access to health services for persons in need.
• Promote and maintain the health of individuals, families, and the community through teaching, counseling, and appropriate preventive and rehabilitative measures.
• Assist in evaluating health needs and participate in the planning and implementation of various public health programs.
• Organize and instruct volunteers or other community professionals.
• Develop and coordinate implementation of special programs.
• Provide routine direction to other employees.
• Prepare reports and maintain records as required.
• Collect appropriate data to perform quality assurance and evaluate programs.
