About the role
The Public Health Nurse I position within Region 8 of the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is responsible for providing public health nursing services to improve the health status of the community. This includes conducting home visits, administering vaccinations, providing health education, and collaborating with community partners.
Responsibilities
- Conduct home visits to assess the health needs of residents
- Administer immunizations and provide preventive care
- Provide health education and counseling to individuals and families
- Collaborate with community organizations to promote public health initiatives
- Document patient encounters and report findings to supervisors
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities
Requirements
- Current Texas RN license
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field
- One year of experience in public health nursing
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to travel up to 40%
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of public health policies and procedures
