Schedule

  • Short-term, variable hours including evenings and weekends to cover off-site flu and COVID immunization clinics.
  • Desired start date: 9/28/26; end date: 10/31/26.

    • Oct 1 (Thursday): 1:00 pm–8:00 pm, Condon
    • Oct 8 (Thursday): 2:00 pm–7:00 pm, Lolo
    • Oct 9 (Friday): 2:00 pm–7:00 pm, Clinton
    • Oct 14 (Wednesday): 7:15 am–12:00 pm, Missoula County Employees
    • Oct 15 (Thursday): 12:00 pm–5:00 pm, Missoula County Employees
    • Oct 16 (Friday): 2:00 pm–7:00 pm, Frenchtown

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and supports the health of individuals, families, and the community through assessment, teaching, counseling, and other appropriate interventions; primary focus is immunizations.
  • Works with public and private agencies to improve community health via data collection, assessment, and policy implementation.
  • Applies the nursing process to identify patients’ physical, social, and emotional needs; serves as case manager and develops nursing care plans.
  • Assists individuals and families in accessing community health resources and provides health education to groups and professionals.
  • Acts as a health resource to other agencies and may assist citizen groups in organizing community health programs.
  • Mentors nursing students, plans and evaluates projects, prepares progress and outcome reports, and participates in quality improvement and strategic work plans.
  • Works within the incident command structure during emergencies.

Immunization Clinic Services

  • Assesses vaccine histories and administers immunizations based on age and/or medical condition for all ages.
  • May draw blood, administer TB skin tests and interpret results, and perform lice checks.
  • Coordinates with the Infectious Disease office on reportable communicable diseases and educates the public and providers on vaccine-related topics.
  • May perform travel consultations in the International Travel Clinic.
  • Primarily works in clinic settings but may also work in the community and liaise with state agencies.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a registered professional nurse in Montana.

Special Requirements

  • Voluntary disclosure of vaccination status and communicable disease testing for required vaccines upon hire; assistance provided to obtain necessary immunizations.
  • Employees who have not received required vaccines or do not disclose status may receive reasonable accommodation unless it poses an undue hardship or endangers health or safety.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Current Montana driver’s license required.

Physical/Environmental Demands

  • Occasional physical exertion such as bending, walking, and lifting boxes of files and small children (up to 40 lbs.).
  • Manual dexterity needed for nursing skills (e.g., drawing blood, giving injections, filling syringes).
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards.
  • May require climbing stairs for home visits and on-call duties (rotational pager and cell phone).
  • Driving to off-site immunization clinics or home visits is required.
