Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.
- Identifies high risk populations and tailor interventions based on the needs of the population and the resources available.
- Provides treatments, administers medications/vaccines and provides preventive and maintenance care to patient/families consistent with nurse protocols.
- Screens and refers clients to other community service providers.
- Participates in the planning, organizing and evaluation of program areas to ensure the goals and objective(s) of the program are met.
- Provides clinical services to target population.
- Applies principles of population health to practice.
- Counsels and educates patients and their families on health issues.
- Develops and sustains community partnerships.
- Participates in drills and exercises on pandemic influenza, mass sheltering, and mass dispensing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR
- Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
