About the role

The Maryland Department of Health is seeking a Public Health Laboratory Scientist General II to join the MDH Laboratory Services team. This full-time position is based in Baltimore City.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex laboratory testing and analyses in support of public health programs
• Conduct quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results
• Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot technical issues
• Document and report test findings in accordance with established protocols
• Participate in the development and validation of new laboratory methodologies
• Adhere to safety regulations and biosafety guidelines
• Assist in training and mentoring laboratory staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, medical technology, or a related scientific field
• Experience in a clinical or public health laboratory setting
• Knowledge of laboratory information systems and data management
• Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Pay

$81,750.00 - $105,759.00/year, with potential growth to $128,924.00/year.
