Public Health Intern- Senior & Adult Services

About the role

Join Summit County Public Health as a Public Health Intern and contribute to our mission of creating a healthful environment and ensuring the accessibility of health services to all. This part-time position (up to 28 hours per week, Monday through Friday) offers hands-on experience in our Senior and Adult Services program.

Responsibilities

The Public Health Intern will support various services under the Senior & Adult Service program, including:

• BRI Care Consultation: A coaching program designed to support individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.
• The Gatekeeper Program: Identification, assessment, and case management support for older adults, individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's, and those with intellectual or developmental disabilities to help them live safely and independently at home.
• Community Education & Training: Public initiatives focused on falls prevention, brain health, and building a Dementia Capable Community in partnership with Dementia Friends Ohio.

Primary duties include:

• Conduct research on relevant topics.
• Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of local programs and community activities.
• Provide support on special projects and administrative tasks as assigned by program staff.
• Perform accurate data entry to maintain and update program records.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pursuit of a bachelor's or graduate degree in Public Health or a related field, or be a recent graduate seeking practical experience in the field.
• Valid Ohio driver's license, liability insurance, and automobile availability.
