Public Health Fall Intern

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Support the PHEP division with emergency response planning.
• Help support the response to World Cup and other summer 2026 activities.
• Support foodborne illness surveillance and investigation activities within the Communicable Disease Control and Prevention program.
• Assist with illness complaint follow-up.
• Support Salmonella and Campylobacter case investigations.
• Conduct patient interviewing.
• Support the delivery of foodborne outbreak prevention guidance.
• Phone communication with healthcare providers, residents, and community partners.
• Supervised data entry and development of program tools such as workflows, quick-reference guides, or communication templates.

Qualification Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Public Health, Environmental Science, Epidemiology, Health Policy, Health Education, Emergency Management, or a related field through an accredited college or university.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software.

Additional Requirements

• Submit the following clearances: Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Record History, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
• Onsite in-person attendance is required as directed by Supervisor or Administrator.
