Public Health Educator (HELP Program) - Cortland County Health Department

About the role

The work involves responsibility for administering countywide public health educational programs geared towards disease prevention and/or wellness. The incumbent assesses public health education needs, plans, develops, implements and evaluates educational programs, and prepares and submits a variety of documentation. The incumbent coordinates and staff’s health fairs, work-site wellness programs, diabetes and any other related public health educational programs consistent with Federal and State and local laws and rules. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level administrator. Does related work as required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses public health education needs
• Plans, develops, implements and evaluates educational programs
• Presents and submits a variety of documentation
• Covers health fairs, work-site wellness programs, diabetes and other related public health educational programs
• Coordinates with staff
• Performs related work as required

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health Education, Health Science, Public Health, Health Promotion, Community Health, or Health Communications
• Or a Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Education, Nursing, Epidemiology, Wellness and Fitness, or Nutrition or a related degree
• Or a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Human Services, Social Work or Psychology and two (2) years’ experience in health education
• Or a Master’s degree in Public Health or Health Education
