Responsibilities
- Apply current quantitative and qualitative public health methodologies, empirical and literature-based, to surveillance, investigations, and analytical studies.
- Employ a full range of methods as appropriate: simple and epidemiological surveys, observational methods, randomized controlled trials and outcome measures, interviews, focus groups, and secondary and meta-analysis.
- Stay current with the latest methodological developments in the field and apply knowledge of the evolution of major public health methods.
- Collaborate with epidemiologists and subject-matter experts to design studies and analyze data.
- Translate analytical findings into clear reports and recommendations for program leadership and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated familiarity with current methodological developments in public health; quantitative and qualitative, empirical and literature based.
- Working knowledge across the full array of public health methodologies: simple and epidemiological surveys, observational methods, randomized controlled trials and outcome measures, interviews, focus groups, and secondary/meta-analysis.
- Knowledge of the historical survey and evolution of major public health methods.
- Prior analytical work on a VA/VHA contract or with PHSR, on epidemiologic investigations or patient lookback efforts.
- Experience in disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, or public health emergency response.
- Experience collaborating with epidemiologists and clinical subject-matter experts and translating analyses into client/executive-ready reports.
- Proficiency with statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, SPSS, Stata).
- Bachelor's degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field required; Master of Public Health (MPH) or equivalent graduate degree strongly preferred.
