Public Finance Trading Director
About the role
The Public Finance Trading desk at Truist Securities makes a secondary market in, and stands ready to purchase and sell, municipal bonds for fixed income investor clients. This role involves managing individual trading books, executing firm and customer trades, and maintaining market share in assigned sectors.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage individual public finance trading book with risk management, trade execution, trade analysis, sector analysis, idea generation, and hedging responsibilities.
- Independently analyze and evaluate credit market and security specific opportunities.
- Develop and maintain client relationships across the Credit account base.
- Work closely with Public finance Origination banking teams to successfully originate and distribute Truist deals and support Co Managed deals.
- Manage desk capital to execute firm and customer trades in accordance with desk risk parameters.
- Manage individual credit trading book with risk management, trade execution, pre/post trade analysis, sector analysis, idea generation, hedging, and attributable P&L.
- Partners with research, banking professionals, product specialists, clients, and other internal/external constituencies to drive business growth.
- Provide efficient, effective, and differentiated execution for clients, fellow teammates, and stakeholders.
- Maintain extensive and deep current Public Finance client relationships, develop new client relationships, and advance existing ones to drive future business growth.
- Lead support work, business development, and/or product/client relationship management when needed.
- Assist in the generation of ideas and strategies for new business opportunities.
- Lead all aspects of transaction execution, including organizing teams and handling engagement with internal and external constituencies, and managing resolution of complex client transaction issues.
- Build cross-functional relationships within the investment bank and leverage these relationships to aid in communication and desk/firm operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) or higher
- 12+ years of related work experience
- Advanced knowledge of Public Finance industry, market, and products
- Proven track record in revenue generation and entrepreneurial nature
- Extensive track record of prudent risk management
- Advanced analytical and technical skills combined with a problem-solving attitude
- Excellent interpersonal style, good listening skills, and the ability to communicate highly complex ideas clearly and concisely
- Strong partnering and leadership skills in a complex, matrixed environment
Qualifications
- CFA and/or MBA degree, with a Finance focus preferred
- 10+ years of related work experience preferred
- Experience in mentoring and coaching preferred
- Technology/Coding experience (Python, R, VBA, etc.) preferred
- Licensing 7, 63 (53 helpful)
Pay
The annual base salary for this position is $300,000.
