Public Finance Quantitative Developer & Strategist - Fixed Income - Associate
About the role
The Fixed Income Division and Commodities Division at Morgan Stanley are seeking a talented individual to join their dynamic team. This role combines elements of quant, engineering, and product thinking, requiring a deep understanding of financial markets and a strong technical background.
Responsibilities
- Build models to assess and manage risk in financial markets.
- Develop and deploy production applications using Python, Flask, React, and other relevant technologies.
- Automate workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Integrate AI agents to enhance decision-making and automate routine tasks.
- Conduct rigorous statistical analyses and use data-driven insights to challenge assumptions and inform strategy.
Requirements
- A Master's or PhD in a quantitative field, or a strong undergraduate background with relevant experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python, including writing clean, testable, and production-ready code.
- Experience with CI/CD practices, including Git, Docker, and structured development workflows.
- Familiarity with solid statistics and probability fundamentals.
- Some exposure to fixed income markets or willingness to learn quickly.
- Experience using Generative AI coding tools such as Copilot, Cursor, etc.
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in a quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong Python programming skills, including experience with libraries like NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-Learn.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly.
- Understanding of machine learning concepts and experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Experience with databases and data storage solutions like SQL or NoSQL.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Pay
The expected base pay rate for this role ranges between $150,000 - $200,000 per year for an Associate at the commencement of employment. Base pay is determined on an individualized basis and is part of a total compensation package that may include commission earnings, incentive compensation, and other benefits.
