About the Role

We are seeking a Public Entity Underwriter to join our Municipality and Transit team. In this role, you will underwrite complex accounts, build strong client relationships, and drive growth within our Public Entity Risk Solutions (PERS) division.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite in accordance with division guidelines and philosophy.
• Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with existing and prospective clients and production sources.
• Respond to and find solutions for client business needs, distinguishing Munich Re Specialty - North America’s products from competitors.
• Assist management in developing new or potential business clients.
• Handle larger, more complex accounts proficiently.
• Research and communicate matters relating to Public Entity Risk Solutions (PERS) issues.
• Exhibit a high degree of market awareness and provide consistent input to management on market activities.
• Ensure appropriate risk-reward decision-making through a clear understanding of underwriting and pricing guidelines.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of all tools and models used in the underwriting process.
• Maintain compliance with Corporate and Divisional underwriting guidelines.
• Support all PERS and Munich Re Specialty - North America objectives as a team player.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in insurance, broker community, underwriting, and/or corporate risk market.
• Deep industry knowledge as an experienced underwriter.
• Strong relationship selling skills.
• Creativity and flexibility.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills.

Open to candidates in Chicago (IL), Philadelphia (PA), Atlanta (GA), Hartford (CT), New York (NY), and Princeton (NJ).

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $138,400 - $230,700, plus opportunity for a company bonus based on a percentage of eligible pay. Salary offers will be adjusted based on geography, with the higher end aligned to the NYC market. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
