About the Role

We are seeking a Public Entity Underwriter to join our Municipality and Transit team. In this role, you will underwrite complex accounts, build strong client relationships, and drive growth within our Public Entity Risk Solutions (PERS) division.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite in accordance with division guidelines and philosophy.
• Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with existing and prospective clients and production sources.
• Respond to and find solutions for client business needs, distinguishing Munich Re Specialty North America’s business and products from competitors.
• Assist management in the development of new or potential business clients.
• Become proficient in handling larger, more complex accounts.
• Research and communicate matters relating to Public Entity Risk Solutions (PERS) issues.
• Exhibit a high degree of market awareness and provide consistent input to management on market activities.
• Possess a clear understanding of underwriting and pricing guidelines to ensure appropriate risk-reward decision-making.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all tools and models used in the underwriting process.
• Maintain compliance with Corporate and Divisional underwriting guidelines.
• Be a team player in support of all PERS and Munich Re Specialty North America objectives.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in insurance, broker community, underwriting, and/or corporate risk market.
• Deep industry knowledge as an experienced underwriter.
• Relationship selling skills.
• Creativity and flexibility.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills.

Locations

Open to candidates in Chicago (IL), Philadelphia (PA), Atlanta (GA), Hartford (CT), New York (NY), and Princeton (NJ).

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $138,400 - $230,700, with adjustments based on geography. The offer includes an opportunity for a company bonus based on a percentage of eligible pay. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
