About the role

This position supports the coordination and implementation of public engagement and involvement programs for infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include developing communication strategies, conducting research, preparing outreach materials, and tracking records.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements communication and outreach strategies to educate the public and stakeholders on infrastructure projects.
  • Conducts routine investigations and collects data for effective communications strategies and regulatory outreach requirements.
  • Prepares and coordinates the dissemination of outreach materials, facts, and information on project messaging to stakeholders.
  • Tracks and maintains routine records and reports related to public involvement meetings, public hearings, and outreach events.
  • Drafts speeches, creates and designs presentation materials, and composes correspondence for use in mailings, meetings, or other public consumption.
  • Performs initial fact-checking for reports, articles, and other publications.
  • Maintains and updates stakeholder databases.
  • Coordinates community meetings, public forums, working groups, and other public meetings, including scheduling, location determination, advertising, and ensuring proper setup/tear down and relevant collateral materials.
  • Interacts with clients to coordinate implementation of communication and outreach programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field.
  • In lieu of education, 4 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • A positive, self-starter mindset.
  • Ability to work in Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Desire to work as part of a team.

Skills

  • Assisting with social media (monitoring, strategy, content development).
  • Modifying existing materials and documents using Adobe (Photoshop, InDesign, InCopy) and Microsoft products (PowerPoint formatting, consistency, editing templates).
  • Researching with direction from senior staff.
  • Assisting with public outreach and events information gathering/research (venue coordination, logistics, generating materials, staffing).
  • Interacting with clients, the public, internal partners, and others.
  • Drafting initial meeting materials.
  • Using basic graphic design skills and following existing style guides.
