About the role
The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Public Benefits Specialist, Entry level position. This role is located in Gold Beach on the southwest Oregon Coast.
Responsibilities
- Be the first point of contact for customers entering the physical office or using the online application portal or telephone communication.
- Contribute to a welcoming environment as families interact with the department.
- Greet and assist Oregonians through a trauma-informed lens.
- Work with Oregonians applying for programs such as medical, cash for families (TANF), domestic violence services, food benefits (SNAP), childcare assistance (ERDC), and long-term care services.
- Answer case status and other inquiries; provide information on accessing community resources.
- Collaborate with a team rotating tasks to support office needs.
- Learn about the Oregon Eligibility Partnership (OEP).
Requirements
- A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required.
- Two years of experience working in a reception area or call center, either interviewing to obtain information or providing customer service, with a high volume of work.
- An associate degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science, or a closely related field, combined with six months of experience in a busy reception area or call center.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience relative to the class concept.

- Experience using computers, web browsers, databases, and programs like Microsoft Office, along with general office equipment.

- Experience in reviewing and verifying information for accurate data entry and developing a comprehensive understanding of assignments.

Pay
$3,798 - $4,954 per month.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
