About the role

The Public Areas Attendant cleans and maintains public and employee areas, reporting to the Director of Housekeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Start daily assignments according to the established structure
  • Clean meeting rooms, restaurants, and windows as needed
  • Clean lobby bathrooms, dust pictures, and wipe down walls
  • Maintain all areas of the lobby, including furniture, walls, windows, frames, exit doors, art, lamps, and wood molding
  • Replenish and organize magazines
  • Report and/or replace burnt light bulbs
  • Shampoo rooms as requested by supervisors
  • Assist with guest special requests (e.g., rollaway beds, baby cribs)
  • Stock all position-related products to proper levels
  • Keep storage areas clean and organized
  • Report maintenance requests and mechanical deficiencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Knowledge of commercial cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to identify areas needing touch-up in the lobby
  • Proficient knowledge of housekeeping and hotel policies, cleaning procedures, sanitation standards, and use of cleaning chemicals
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards for working with chemicals
  • Awareness of hotel services and amenities to assist guests
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations, including handling biohazard materials and hazardous cleaning agents
  • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with guests
  • Clear understanding of instructions and ability to report maintenance or security concerns
  • Ability to keep cleaning supplies, carts, and storage areas well-stocked and orderly
  • Ability to stay focused and complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to collaborate with housekeeping and hotel staff for seamless operations
  • Respect for guest privacy and confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and with chemical cleaning products that may contain allergens

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, or be on your feet for extended periods
  • Regularly work in adverse conditions and use protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials
  • Work in an office environment and walk on slippery or uneven surfaces
  • Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
