Responsibilities

  • Support client and Firm engagements by tracking deadlines, organizing materials, preparing updates, and coordinating project deliverables.
  • Conduct research on industries, issues, stakeholders, public sentiment, media coverage, and market trends.
  • Aid in stakeholder mapping to identify potential allies, opposition, audiences, and outreach considerations.
  • Prepare background materials, meeting notes, briefing documents, agendas, and follow-up items for client and Firm teams.
  • Help monitor project progress and escalate timing, quality, or coordination issues to senior team members and client contacts.
  • Draft and edit content for press releases, official statements, op-eds, letters to the editor, speeches, websites, social media, newsletters, talking points, and client and Firm communications materials.
  • Maintain message consistency across platforms, audiences, and spokespeople.
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare concise summaries, reports, and recommendations for client teams.
  • Coverage and follow-up details for interviews and media opportunities.
  • Support preparation for media training sessions, briefings, press events, and client-facing communications moments.
  • Serve as a media relations lead, including a client spokesperson when assigned and appropriately briefed by senior team members or management.
  • Respond to media inquiries using approved messaging, talking points, and client guidance.
  • Prepare clients and internal team members for interviews, statements, press events, and public-facing communications.
  • Cook up and coordinate with senior communications leads to ensure spokesperson activity is accurate, timely, professional, and aligned with client goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality and sound judgment when handling sensitive, high-visibility, or fast-moving client matters.
  • Coordinate logistics for internal and external briefings, open houses, press conferences, client meetings, and other events.
  • Prepare agendas, talking points, run-of-show documents, contact lists, briefing packets, and related event materials.
  • Maintain client files, media lists, stakeholder lists, reporting trackers, and project documentation.
  • Afford assistance with scheduling, calendar coordination, meeting preparation, and administrative support for client teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with communications, government affairs, legal, marketing, creative, digital, and third-party teams as needed.
  • Contribute to Firm and team initiatives, special projects, internal updates, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Learn and apply new tools, best practices, and processes as client needs and firm priorities evolve.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Affairs, Political Science, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field preferred.
  • Two to four years of relevant experience in communications, public affairs, marketing, journalism, campaign work, or client service preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, accurate, and client-ready materials.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
  • Professional judgment, discretion, and ability to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with tact.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys, consultants, and staff.
  • Comfort monitoring news, researching issues, preparing summaries, and learning new tools or platforms.
