PTTC Prevention Fellow
About the role
The one-year Prevention Fellowship Program will focus on increasing the number of substance misuse prevention professionals and building their foundational knowledge and skills to be effective substance misuse primary prevention professionals. Fellows will receive mentorship from host site prevention staff and will be exposed to the day-to-day workings of the site.
Responsibilities
- Work on projects as assigned by their host site placement approximately 50% of the time.
- Dedicate the other 50% of their time to learning and capacity development activities coordinated by the PTTC network.
- Travel to national conferences/trainings at least twice per year for multiple days.
Requirements
This is a competitive fellowship program for those committed to the field of substance misuse prevention. Preference will be given to applicants who are recent college graduates, or early career professionals with experience in substance misuse primary prevention and/or public health initiatives. Applicants must live in the Great Lakes region (IN, IL, MI, MN, OH, WI).

- PTTC Mentor - A mentor funded by the PTTCs will provide guidance and training regarding substance misuse primary prevention science.
- Great Lakes PTTC Mentors – Great Lakes PTTC staff members will provide ongoing guidance and training on substance misuse primary prevention.

PTTC Network
The purpose of the Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC) Network is to improve implementation and delivery of effective substance misuse primary prevention interventions and provide training and technical assistance services to the substance misuse primary prevention field. It does this by developing and disseminating tools and strategies needed to improve the quality of substance misuse primary prevention efforts; providing intensive technical assistance and learning resources to prevention professionals to improve their understanding of prevention science, epidemiological data, and implementation of evidence-based and promising practices; and developing tools and resources to engage the next generation of prevention professionals.
