Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture, roadmap, and technical governance for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions with PTC Windchill as the strategic platform.
- Lead solution design for key Windchill capabilities including Product Data Management (PDM), Engineering Change Management, Configuration Management, BOM/MBOM management, document management, and variant/option management.
- Architect and oversee integrations between Windchill and upstream/downstream systems (e.g., CAD tools, ERP, MES, manufacturing execution, supplier collaboration, and analytics platforms) to enable a connected digital thread.
- Define and implement Windchill data model, security model, and lifecycle/workflow configurations that align with Oshkosh Vocational engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical leadership on Windchill upgrades, patches, performance tuning, high availability, and environment strategy (on-premise, cloud, or hybrid).
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable Windchill configurations and extensions.
- Establish and maintain PLM/Windchill development standards, code quality practices, and DevOps/CI/CD approaches for customizations and integrations.
- Guide and mentor internal and external teams (developers, analysts, partners) in Windchill best practices, extensibility (APIs, OData, web services), and PTC solution ecosystem usage (e.g., Windchill Navigate, Creo integration).
- Define and oversee data migration strategies, data quality rules, and cutover approaches for PLM implementations, consolidations, and legacy system decommissioning.
- Contribute to PLM/engineering process optimization and standardization, driving adoption and continuous improvement of Windchill across segments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) or more years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Experience providing technical leadership/guidance and influencing without direct authority PLM / PTC Windchill.
- Seven (7) or more years of progressive experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions in a discrete manufacturing, industrial, or heavy equipment environment.
- Five (5) or more years of hands-on experience as a solution architect or lead technical role on PTC Windchill (e.g., PDMLink, ProjectLink, MPMLink, or equivalent modules).
- Deep understanding of Windchill concepts including lifecycles, workflows, object types, WTParts, EPMDocuments, product structures, change objects, and access control/security.
- Proven experience integrating Windchill with CAD tools (e.g., PTC Creo and/or other major CAD systems) and at least one major ERP (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Demonstrated experience leading at least one full lifecycle Windchill implementation or major upgrade (requirements, design, build, test, deployment, and stabilization).
- Strong knowledge of PLM and engineering processes such as configuration management, change management, release management, and BOM management, and how they are realized in Windchill.
- Experience with performance tuning, environment strategy, and technical operations for Windchill (e.g., application and method servers, background queues, indexing/search).
- Ability to translate complex engineering and manufacturing requirements into scalable, maintainable Windchill configurations, extensions, and integrations.
