About the role
Citizens Health is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to join our Rehab department. Our mission is to enhance the lives of those we serve.
Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy treatments to patients according to the plan of care developed by the Physical Therapist.
- Absorb and assist the Physical Therapist during test, evaluations, and complex treatment procedures.
- Complete necessary documentation of patient conditions, reactions, and responses to treatment in accordance with standards of practice.
- Communicate with physicians, departmental/hospital personnel, and family members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
- Assure the continued growth and improvement of the rehabilitation Services Department.
- Attend and participate in required departmental meetings and other meetings as instructed by the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
- Attend continuing education opportunities appropriate to discipline and responsibilities.
- Complete mandatory training/in-services and certification requirements.
- Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement process, as instructed by the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
- Maintain equipment in proper working order and adapt equipment to meet the needs of the patient.
- Observe, record, and report to the Physical Therapist the conditions, patient reactions, and responses related to treatment.
- Instruct patients and their families/caregivers in exercise programs and therapeutic procedures to be continued following the patient’s discharge as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Perform treatments as ordered in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with established practice guidelines.
Requirements
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy Assistant and eligible for licensure with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
- Must have current license, certification, or registration with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
Qualifications
- Current Physical Therapy Assistant licensure with the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
- Current C.P.R. certification or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Thorough knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques involved in performing physical therapy services.
- Ability to deal understandingly and tactfully in a professional manner with patients and their families.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with personnel in other departments.
- Ability to provide direction in application of physical therapy process, quality improvement standards, organization, and departmental goals and objectives.
