CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 160 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 65,000 individuals and families each year at our 90 locations, including 10,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

CAMBA operates six homeless shelters for single adults, and a drop-in center funded by New York City Department of Homeless Services. Each shelter offers clients a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free environment. Single men and women experiencing homelessness may also present with chronic mental health and substance using behaviors. At CAMBA’s shelters, we provide access to comprehensive case management and housing placement to rapidly place individuals into housing. Medical, behavioral health, job placement and therapeutic recreation services are available to help stabilize clients and facilitate successful transition into permanent and/or supportive housing.

About the Role

The PT Supervisor I (House Manager) maintains professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality. They practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures and comply with all Federal, State, City, and CAMBA security and privacy policies intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information. The role involves inputting client data using DHS’ CARES database, communicating effectively with clients, peers, supervisors, and funders, and ensuring regulatory compliance with NYS DHS, NYS OTDA, NYC FDNY, NYC Dept. of Health, NYC Coalition for the Homeless, etc.

• Ensure security and residential aide and social service staff conduct new client orientation within 24 hours of entry into the facility.
• Ensure the safety and security of operations of the facility by maintaining adequate staffing levels.
• Remain on-site to provide supervisory coverage at all times, including lunch breaks, when working shifts as the only on-site Shift Supervisor.
• Ensure inventory of security equipment is up to date.
• Ensure security of valuables and medications in safe/cabinet.
• Retrieve, observe, and document client’s self-administration of medications, as appropriate.
• Manage and coordinate the day-to-day functions of the shift ensuring programming, rounds, and client care services are occurring.
• Professionally respond to complaints, incidents, and emergencies; interview all parties, analyze, collect data, document, and report the situation.
• Resolve individual conflicts and disputes between staff or clients in a respectful and solution-based manner.
• Participate in program meetings as requested.
• Engage clients to address issues that arise on the shift and document and communicate via written logs, face-to-face meetings, etc.
• Monitor clients’ safety and ensure safety policies and procedures are practiced daily.
• Overcome resistance to change from clients.
• Provide all required information for shift reports to CAMBA management and/or to funders.
• In the absence of adequate staffing, have direct service/program responsibility in addition to supervisory duties.
• Enforce and adhere to the Good Neighbor Policy and respond to community concerns when appropriate.
• May conduct initial intake or initial and/or periodic assessments of clients.
• May reach out and market the program to the community to obtain resources for clients.

Tasks may be modified, expanded, and/or assigned over time.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Applicants currently enrolled in a program and on track to complete the minimum required education, license, and/or certification within the next three months, and who meet the minimum experience requirements, are encouraged to apply. However, employment is contingent upon satisfying requirements for the position.
• Four (4) years of applicable experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of CARES.
• Bilingual (English & any other language) preferred.

Pre and/or Post Employment Requirements

• Submit medical Tuberculosis (TB) test results as part of the onboarding process.
• Must obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
• Must obtain and maintain certification in overdose prevention.
• Must obtain and maintain F-80 Fire Safety Coordinator certification.
• Must obtain and maintain CPI (Crisis Prevention) certification.
