PT Sales Associate Cashier

Responsibilities

• Observe and follow all company policies and established procedures.
• Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and follow company personal appearance policy.
• Clean Service Desk/Kiosk and keep work area free from debris and safety hazards.
• Assist in special projects and perform other functions as assigned by supervision.
• Work within company's management planning (MPP) guidelines to maintain productivity.
• Support and comply with all company safety standards; report any needed equipment repairs or maintenance work.
• Treat all associates with fairness, dignity, and respect.
• Perform accurate price check functions; record price discrepancies and "not on file" items on designated forms.
• Control excessive use of store supplies (e.g., ribbons, receipt tape, bags, cleaning materials).
• Verify customer IDs and observe store policies for check acceptance and the sale of tobacco/alcoholic beverages.
• Adhere to company policy for excessive cash in registers and request cash pickup as needed.
• Observe security standards by staying alert to customer actions and behavior; report abnormal behavior to manager or security.
• Process various transactions (cash, checks, authorized Accounts Receivable sales, Electronic Payments, WIC, coupons, gift cards, bottle credits, refunds, lottery, Western Union) in strict accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Secure register when unattended; protect company assets at all times.
• Use and maintain equipment in good working order; report problems or malfunctions immediately.
• Maintain general housekeeping and sanitation standards in compliance with store policy and health regulations.
• Recognize and differentiate between various types of produce merchandise, including varieties of similar classes (e.g., apples, lettuces).
• Frequently perform cashier and service associate functions.
• Follow Anti-Money Laundering guidelines for Western Union, Money Orders, Prepaid Cards, and Check Cashing.

Qualifications

• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the technical requirements of the job.
• Completed Cashier/Service Associate training packet.

Physical Requirements

• Stand 100% of the time with occasional short-distance walking.
• Use hands frequently/continuously to handle currency and operate equipment (cash register, lottery machine, scanner, computer, calculator).
• Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 pounds continuously, 25 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds on occasion.
• Push or pull up to 75 pounds on occasion.
• Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder or below waist level.
• Meet established volume activity standards for the position.
• Sufficient visual acuity to check IDs, checks, invoices, and other documents.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Requirements

• Greet all customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Provide outstanding, friendly customer service.
• Efficiently and accurately scan customer purchases into the cash register.
• Collect payment in cash, checks, or electronic funds and tender accurate change.
• Process customer and associate refunds in accordance with standard practice.

Pay

Salary range is between $15.10 - $19.65 hourly.
