PT Sales Associate Cashier

About the Role

Hannaford Supermarkets, rooted in its history as a fresh produce vendor since 1883, continues to celebrate local foods, traditions, and jobs. As a Front End associate, you’ll play a key role in maintaining our commitment to customer service, sustainability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Observe and follow all company policies and procedures.
• Clean the Service Desk/Kiosk and maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance.
• Assist in special projects and perform other tasks as assigned.
• Work within management planning guidelines to maintain productivity.
• Support and comply with safety standards.
• Communicate equipment repairs or maintenance needs.
• Keep work areas free from debris and safety hazards.
• Treat all associates with fairness, dignity, and respect.
• Perform accurate price checks and control store supply usage.
• Record price discrepancies and request checks as needed.
• Verify customer IDs and adhere to policies for checks, tobacco, and alcohol sales.
• Manage cash levels and request pickups as required.
• Monitor customer behavior and report abnormalities to management or security.
• Process transactions (cash, checks, electronic payments, WIC, coupons, etc.) in compliance with policies.
• Secure registers and protect company assets.
• Maintain and report equipment issues.
• Uphold housekeeping and sanitation standards.
• Differentiate between produce varieties and perform cashier/service associate functions.

Qualifications

• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
• Ability to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Completed Cashier/Service Associate training packet.

Physical Requirements

• Stand 100% of the time with occasional short-distance walking.
• Frequently handle currency and operate equipment (cash register, scanner, etc.).
• Bend and lift up to 15 pounds continuously, 25 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Push or pull up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder or below waist level.
• Meet established volume activity standards.
• Sufficient visual acuity to check IDs, checks, and documents.

Preferred Requirements

• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Record customer purchases efficiently and accurately.
• Handle cash, checks, and electronic funds, tendering accurate change.
• Provide refunds in accordance with standard practice.
• Follow Anti-Money Laundering guidelines for Western Union, Money Orders, Prepaid Cards, and Check Cashing.

Pay

Salary range: $16.00 - $22.30 per hour.
