Essential Functions
- Oversees and facilitates special event activities in Parks and Recreation facilities, to include the set up and take down of equipment.
- Affords assistance with interviews for hiring and training sports staff in field preparation for adult and youth sports.
- Serves as supervisor for adult programs and activities as well as some special events.
- Affords assistance in supervising and setting up/preparing for adult sports leagues.
- Acts in referee capacity in all youth sports leagues.
- Performs related tasks as assigned and assists in the duties of recreation supervisor, assistant recreation coordinator, and recreation coordinator.
- Operates coaching responsibilities in youth sports leagues.
- Organizes and sets up/takes down sports department equipment for adult and youth leagues.
- Maintains and cleans equipment.
- Affords assistance with equipment inventory and facility safety checks.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be sixteen (16) years of age at time of hire.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483.
- Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check.
Supplemental Information
- Knowledge of outdoor and indoor facilities and equipment; multiple sports rules.
- Skills in using personal computers, and telephones.
- Ability to manage personnel for special events; assist in Fourth of July festivities; represent the City by communicating with the public as well as staff and other facility users and organizations; provide crowd control in special event situations; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; effectively explain policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; accurately enter data and proofread materials; read, understand, interpret, and apply policies and procedures; and follow written and verbal instructions.
Physical And Mental Requirements/Work Environment
- General Physical Requirements: Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds unassisted.

- Physical Activities: Some moderate physical activity is required such as lifting and moving sports equipment. Responsible for maintaining, dragging, raking and garbage removal at facilities.
- Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
- Working Conditions: Work is both in an inside and outside environment. Outside work will be in heat of summer.
