PT Program Lab Assistant - Precision Machining

About the role

The Program Lab Assistant supports an ARC POWER Grant-funded workforce training initiative, focusing on precision machining and advanced precision machining. This role is essential for ensuring lab environments are safe, organized, and conducive to student learning.

Responsibilities

• Aid faculty in preparing and delivering hands-on lab activities in machining courses.
• Support student learning during lab sessions by reinforcing instruction and ensuring proper techniques.
• Maintain and organize machining labs, including manual and CNC equipment.
• Ensure tools, machines, and materials are available, functional, and in good condition.
• Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
• Promote and enforce safe work practices in the lab environment.
• Avoidance of violations of all safety regulations and procedures.
• Aid faculty with inventory management of tools, supplies, and materials.
• Support program operations and special projects as needed.
• Participate in departmental meetings or training as appropriate.
• May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Relevant industry experience in precision machining.
• Experience with manual machining equipment (lathe and mill).
• Experience with CNC machining processes and equipment.
• Knowledge of shop safety practices and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
