About the role
The Program Lab Assistant supports an ARC POWER Grant-funded workforce training initiative, focusing on precision machining and advanced precision machining. This role is essential for ensuring lab environments are safe, organized, and conducive to student learning.
Responsibilities
- Aid faculty in preparing and delivering hands-on lab activities in machining courses.
- Support student learning during lab sessions by reinforcing instruction and ensuring proper techniques.
- Maintain and organize machining labs, including manual and CNC equipment.
- Ensure tools, machines, and materials are available, functional, and in good condition.
- Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices in the lab environment.
- Avoidance of violations of all safety regulations and procedures.
- Aid faculty with inventory management of tools, supplies, and materials.
- Support program operations and special projects as needed.
- Participate in departmental meetings or training as appropriate.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Relevant industry experience in precision machining.
- Experience with manual machining equipment (lathe and mill).
- Experience with CNC machining processes and equipment.
- Knowledge of shop safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
