PT Outbound Freight Handler

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight onto and off of equipment
• Aid in the recovery of damaged freight
• Clean and inspect trailers before loading freight
• Use safe lifting techniques to load and unload freight
• Select and use appropriate freight handling equipment
• Weigh and dimension shipments to ensure proper classification, freight rating, and safe handling
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution when loading freight
• Count and inspect freight, documenting any shortages or damage
• Review freight bills for special instructions
• Check manifests for exceptions and verify labels and destination codes
• Verify hazardous material product descriptions, paperwork, and placarding
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check and alcohol/drug test
• Prior experience as a Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler preferred
• Previous Forklift Certification preferred

Pay

$18.10-$21.60 per hour (pay may vary based on location and experience)
