Join our dedicated team in a Part-time Optical Sales Associate position in Omaha, NE. On-the-job training and certification opportunities are provided—no prior experience is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
    • Provide excellent customer and patient service according to company and Optical Center standards
    • Analyze patient eyewear needs and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames
    • Assist patients in selecting frames according to style, color, facial measurements, and optical prescriptions
    • Order and dispense eyewear accurately and professionally
    • Assist with frame repairs and adjustments
    • Show patients how to insert, remove, and care for contact lenses
    • Assist the Optometrist with case histories and screenings
  • Business and Operational Standards
    • Maintain knowledge of third-party plans and claims
    • Explain promotions and special lens offerings to patients and customers
    • Balance accounts and process medical billing information
    • Prepare work orders for the Optical Lab
    • Ensure proper merchandising of frame inventory

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Maintain any required state license
  • Complete Shopko OCE Certification requirements and calendar modules
  • Previous experience in an office and/or optical dispensing is preferred
  • Able to handle multiple customer interactions and phone calls simultaneously
  • Able to analyze prescriptions, perform repairs, adjustments, and lifestyle dispensing

Essential Functions & Work Requirements

  • Effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and verbal communication
  • Read and write at a high school graduate level
  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Operate office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, fax, copier)
  • Lift 10 to 20 pounds
  • Good vision (near, distance, color, and depth perception)
  • Manual and finger dexterity, hand/arm steadiness, and ability to grip and hold items
  • Good eye-hand coordination
  • Operate a cash register, optical equipment, and tools
  • Work normal or extended hours (evenings, nights, and weekends) to meet deadlines
  • Travel independently to support company objectives and personal development
