PT Meat Cutter

Part-time Meat Cutter position at Piggly Wiggly, 158 N Washington St, Lancaster, WI 563813. Shift varies per store needs (morning, day, evening) and schedule is determined upon interview.

About the role

Process, prepare, and package meat products in compliance with company policy and Federal, State, and Local regulations regarding meat operations, safety, and sanitation. Maintain a clean work area and ensure proper temperatures are upheld in all storage and display areas. Manage meat supplies, case conditions, and product rotation to achieve financial goals such as sales and gross profit maximization while minimizing shrink and supply expenses. Provide courteous customer service, direct subordinates, and support other stores as needed.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, cut, trim, scrape, package, tie, wrap, weigh, price, and label meat products
• Maintain proper temperatures in cooler, prep area, freezer, and display cases
• Stock, straighten, clean, and rotate product in display cases
• Achieve sales and gross profit goals while minimizing shrink and supply expenses
• Direct subordinates in implementing action plans and attaining goals
• Promote sales through friendly and attentive customer service
• Minimize product shrink through proper handling and storage
• Provide support to other stores when staff is absent, as directed

Requirements

• Adequate knowledge of preparing different cuts of meat
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
• Accurate vision
• 1-2 years of experience with meat preparation in retail stores
• Reliable attendance, initiative, productivity, and commitment to quality, safety, and company values

Skills

• Occasional climbing, balancing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, feeling, tasting, and smelling
• Frequent pulling/pushing loads up to 80 lb
• Constant standing, walking, lifting/carrying loads up to 100 lb, reaching, handling, talking, and hearing
• Exposure to temperatures as low as 30 degrees
• Proficiency operating: knives, computerized scales, case cutter, bandsaw, patty machine, marking gun, grinder, cubing machine, pallet jack, wrapping machine, baler/compactor, walkie stacker, tie machine, slicer, eycruder bone duster, sausage maker, and chicken splitter

Work Environment

Store/grocery warehouse setting with temperatures ranging from 50°F to 90°F.
