About the role
The Shaw University is seeking a Part-Time (Adjunct) Faculty, Business to teach Business Management Courses. The position involves engaging students in course areas related to management and business, and helping them develop competencies in these fields.
Responsibilities
- Teach Business Management courses during Fall and Spring semesters, and Summer if needed.
- Respond to students in a timely manner regarding course matters.
- Incorporate business and industry experience into the curriculum.
- Align learning and assessment with course and program outcomes.
- Select and/or create course learning materials.
- Develop course syllabi including policies and schedules.
- Adapt curriculum to various delivery methods.
- Deliver high-quality instruction through effective learning strategies and environments.
- Create and manage the learning environment.
- Develop a plan for learning that prioritizes competencies.
- Orient students to the course.
- Facilitate engagement among students.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the learning plan for improvement.
- Use technology to enhance learning.
- Create performance-based assessment plans.
- Implement performance-based assessment tools.
- Record and communicate assessment results.
- Provide timely student feedback.
- Use assessment results to identify opportunities for improvement.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Business Administration.
- Relevant job-related work experience.
- A commitment to excellence in education.
- Able to present course teachings in a way that encourages critical thinking and motivates students.
- Able to clarify values and develop a positive self-image.
- Knowledge and experience in using instructional technology.
Qualifications
- Must possess the minimum credential standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
- At least 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or suitable approved justifications.
- Experience teaching at the college level.
- Experience in an additional area also offered in the assigned department is highly desired.
Skills
- Strong oral and written presentation skills.

- Excellence in organizational skills, decision-making, problem-solving, and creating a collaborative environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Fluency in English reading, writing, and speaking.
