About the Role

Hannaford Supermarkets, rooted in its history as a fresh produce vendor since 1883, continues to celebrate local foods, traditions, and jobs. As a Front End associate, you’ll play a key role in providing outstanding customer service while upholding our commitment to sustainability and community.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and prompt customer service.
• Clean and assist in the prompt cleanup of spills and breakage.
• Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and follow the company’s personal appearance policy.
• Assist in special projects and perform other tasks as assigned.
• Work within management planning guidelines to maintain productivity.
• Support and comply with all company safety standards.
• Communicate needed equipment repairs or maintenance.
• Keep work areas free from debris and safety hazards.
• Control the use of store supplies (ribbons, receipt tape, bags, labels, cleaning materials).
• Sweep floors during store hours and assist in other cleaning duties.
• Record price discrepancies and "not on file" items, requesting price checks as needed.
• Observe security standards, report abnormal behavior to management or security.

Qualifications

• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the technical requirements of the job.

Physical Requirements

• Perform repetitive hand/arm motions while standing for the majority of the shift.
• Continuous fine finger motions (pinching, grasping) when handling money.
• Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 pounds continuously, 25 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Push or pull up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Handle substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging, fresh produce, and household cleaners.
• Sufficient visual acuity to read screens, check IDs, and review documents.

Preferred Requirements

• Greet all customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Accurately match items from customers' online shopping lists.
• Shop multiple customer orders simultaneously using designated tools.
• Substitute items as requested by customers.
• Assist customers picking up orders at the designated location.
• Differentiate between various types of produce merchandise.
• Bag or package merchandise according to company policies.
• Label and store orders in the designated area for customer pickup.

Pay

Salary range: $16.00 - $22.30 per hour.
