PT Guest Care Associate
About the Role
This role is responsible for providing courteous customer service in person or by telephone, answering incoming calls to the retail store, directing calls to the appropriate department, and assisting with guest questions in store. The position also involves operating a cash register and assisting guests with self-checkouts.
Responsibilities
- Provide courteous guest service in person or by telephone; answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate department.
- Perform and process guest service transactions such as credits, over-rings, refunds, lottery ticket sales, money orders/transfers (Western Union), and media-related purchases in accordance with Company policies.
- Operate cash register to itemize customer purchases and assist guests with self-checkouts; handle a variety of products including dry groceries, frozen foods, dairy, produce, poultry, fish, beef, and pork.
- Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons; bag customer purchases.
- Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations.
- Understand and efficiently operate check-stand equipment (register, self-checkouts).
- Comply with Company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling (damaged/spoiled products), and the sale of alcohol and tobacco products.
- Communicate Company programs (loyalty program, scans, etc.), in-store specials, and coupons to customers.
- Maintain a clean and well-stocked department; ensure compliance with Company safety and sanitation procedures and standards.
- Notify the department lead or manager of any issues with pricing, cash registers, etc.
- Follow all PPE, Safety, Food Safety, and Cleaning Guidelines, as well as Guest Experience Guidelines.
- May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- One year of prior retail or related experience preferred.
- Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
- Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
- Good reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.

- May be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and may bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Subject to a typical retail store environment (varied temperatures) and exposed to outside weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
- Travel requirements vary by assignment.
