About the Role

The Department of Sport Management, Wellness, and Physical Education (SWP) in the College of Education (COE) is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach in its programs on a semester-by-semester basis. The department prepares exemplary practitioners who contribute meaningfully to their communities through innovative instruction in the following areas:

• Sport Management: A program responsive to the evolving sport industry, emphasizing relevant instruction, research, and collaboration with industry organizations.
• Health and Community Wellness:
  • BS in Health and Community Wellness: Prepares students for careers promoting health and wellness in various settings. Students learn to help individuals, organizations, and communities change lifestyle behaviors to minimize health risks. The program offers elective tracks in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Dietetics.
  • MS in Integrative Health and Wellness: Focuses on training health and wellness professionals, particularly in health and wellness coaching. Students gain skills in health promotion, behavior change, and integrative approaches to disease prevention. The program is an approved training pathway for the NBHWC board-certified Health and Wellness Coach credential.
• Physical Education:
  • Prepares candidates for initial certification in health and physical education for P-12 students, emphasizing active, healthy lifestyles.
  • MEd in Physical Education: A 100% online program designed for current K-12 educators to advance their expertise while working full- or part-time.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses, with an emphasis on high-quality face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online instruction.
• Supervise students in field experiences across various school settings.
• Collaborate with faculty in the College of Education.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • Master’s degree.
  • Preferred: Minimum of two years of relevant work experience in Sport Management, Wellness, or Physical Education.
• Preferred:
  • Doctorate/PhD.
  • Industry experience.
  • Higher education teaching experience in fully online or hybrid environments.
  • Familiarity with practitioner certification requirements in Georgia and nationally.
  • Knowledge of national accreditation standards.
