About the role

This position will remain open until filled, first review will occur on 07/14/2026.

The position is a part-time faculty appointment with a contract to teach General Chemistry I, Water Chemistry in Aquatic Systems, and General Physics courses at Oregon Coast Community College. Courses will be offered face to face or livestreamed for the 2026-27 academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students using approved course outcome guides and accurate syllabi.
  • Prepare instructional materials as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and scholastic progress.
  • Evaluate and grade student progress and systematically assess the program using meaningful indicators to assure currency, improve teaching and learning strategies, and achieve stated student learning outcomes for all students, including underrepresented students and first-generation college students.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and community partners.
  • Engage in a reasonable amount of student contact outside of instruction to respond to questions and to resolve course-related problems.
  • Complete required college trainings.

Requirements

  • For Chemistry: Masters Degree or Higher in Chemistry, or related field with sufficient graduate credits in Chemistry.
  • For Physics: Masters Degree or Higher in Physics, or related field with sufficient graduate credits in Physics.

Qualifications

  • Passing the Aquatic Animal Life Support Operators (AALSO) Water Quality Technician Level 1 test for the Water Chemistry in Aquatic Systems course.
