PT Center Store Associate

About the role

Provide quality customer service within the Center Store (Grocery) Department at Food Lion, a regional grocery chain serving over 10 million customers weekly across 10 states. Responsibilities include maintaining operational standards, maximizing sales through customer service, and minimizing shrink.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate service
• Clean shelves and shelf tag moldings with a damp cloth as needed when stocking
• Maintain shelf allocations by stocking from tag to tag
• Place only saleable merchandise on shelves
• Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise follows company policies and guidelines
• Use company tools such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO)
• Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices
• Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions; report accidents per established procedures
• Comply with local, state, and federal regulations
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with name badge and maintain a neat, clean appearance
• Complete required training (Computer Based Training, Training Packet, Training Aid courses)

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
• Problem-solving skills using technical information
• Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions
• Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations

Physical Requirements

• Use computers and communication systems to perform job functions
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions
• Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally
• Pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally; push or pull up to 2000 lbs. using a pallet jack
• Stand 100% of the time with frequent short-distance walking
• Handle substances associated with cleaning materials, fresh produce, plants, and household cleaners
• Frequently handle currency and operate equipment (cash register, lottery machine, scanner, computer, calculator)
• Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder or below waist
• Meet established volume activity standards
• Tolerate extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time
• Sufficient visual ability to check IDs, checks, invoices, and other documents
