PT Assistant Director Bronx

About the role

New York Edge is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Director who will assist in the overall administration of the New York Edge After-School Program under the supervision of the After-School Program Director.

Responsibilities

• Directly responsible for the overall supervision of academic counselors and an academic component of the after-school program
• Prepare alternative activities to implement during homework sessions that complement the academic session
• Provide a seamless day that aligns homework sessions with day school standards of learning
• Lead trips off-site and supervise students and staff for the duration of the entire outing
• Encourage and lead projects that foster academic, cultural, and artistic growth
• Promote teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship, including ultimate responsibility for youth behavior at the site and on trips
• Communicate the program’s challenges, progress, and success with After-School Program Director
• Ensure the Afterschool program is compliant with all DYCD, DOE, and DOHMH regulations and timelines and stays abreast of all local, state, and federal pandemic management conditions and requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's Degree or demonstration of actively completing a B.A. Degree
• A minimum of one year of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required

Required Skills

• Able to work late afternoons and/or evenings
• Knowledgeable and skilled in Academics, Sports, or Arts programs and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth in Academics, Sports, or Arts
• Knowledge of the New York City Department of Education
