Job Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Six months training and experience in the care of animals, or experience in a similar position
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have a genuine liking for animals and concern for their welfare
• Must have knowledge of current animal control regulations, laws and ordinances and stay informed of health issues, new laws, and animal sheltering methods
• Must work weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Must assist with and draw blood from animals

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Regularly performs strenuous physical activities
• Lift and/or move 50+ pounds frequently
• Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Hand/eye coordination for operation of personal computer; vision for reading and preparing written reports and documents; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communications with employees and citizens
• Subject to many interruptions and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
• Exposure to outside elements, with walking in inclement weather
• Frequent exposure to cleaning products including bleach, as well as other chemicals
