Psychotherapist, Independent Contractor (Canopy MHC) Canopy is a values-based mental health organization committed to centering BIPOC and other historically marginalized and underrepresented communities. Canopy provides high quality services with purpose and integrity by collaborating with and supporting individuals, groups, families, and communities in meeting their mental health goals. Canopy aspires to provide a supportive and educational work atmosphere where collaboration and egalitarian decision-making fosters respect and trust among diverse providers. The Psychotherapist role is responsible for providing individual, family, couples, or group psychotherapy services to diverse clientele from a client centered and culturally responsive stance. Services are provided in an outpatient and/or telehealth setting. Clinicians who identify as BIPOC or as members of historically marginalized/underserved groups are strongly encouraged to apply. This is an independent contractor role, as opposed to an employee role. While this role is not eligible for benefits or insurance, it allows for self-determination in work hours and work settings. To maintain the contractual relationship, contract psychotherapists are required to adhere to the practices and standards dictated by their licensing board, and their contracts with 3rd party payers. Canopy MHC’s clinical manager will provide oversight to ensure compliance with these standards. The Contract Psychotherapist is paid by insurance reimbursement and/or client payments from their billed sessions. Canopy offers competitive clinician/practice split options. These are determined on a quarterly basis as noted below: Split 1: Licensed contract psychotherapist: 70/30 Split 2: Pre-Licensed contract psychotherapist: 65/35 w/supervision Split 3: Licensed contract psychotherapist: if <20 clients per week, all sessions 75/25 Split 4: Pre-licensed contract psychotherapist: <20 clients per week, all sessions 70/30 w/supervision For Example: If a licensed contractor averages 20+ completed sessions per week during Q4, they would move from 70/30 to 75/25 for Q1. Finance would then use that established split for all payments received and paid out during Q1. At the end of Q1, we would review productivity again to determine the split for Q2. Job duties: Maintain a minimum caseload average of 3 client hours per week Use electronic health record (EHR) system to complete all documentation (Diagnostic Assessment, Treatment Plans, Case Notes, Discharge Summaries, etc.) and store all client records (Canopy is a paperless company) Refer clients as needed to the appropriate levels of care, and to other professionals or services that support their mental health Complete client services and documentation in accordance with professional standards of their licensing board, Minnesota state statutes governing mental health services, and requirements of private insurance contracts Pre-licensed clinicians must receive clinical supervision at all times in accordance with licensing board requirements and provide proof of supervision plan/agreement Obtain, maintain and provide proof of professional liability insurance Minimum qualifications: Must be fully licensed in the state of Minnesota to practice psychotherapy (LP, LPCC, LMFT, LICSW) or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology and pursuing licensure track. Must be passionate and knowledgeable about providing culturally responsive services, equitable healthcare access, and social and economic challenges of the clients that they work with. Must have at least basic knowledge of insurance billing processes (CPT codes, diagnostic codes, use of modifiers, etc.). Preferred qualifications: Intermediate to advanced knowledge of insurance billing processes (CPT codes, diagnostic codes, use of modifiers, etc.) and electronic health record systems. Experience providing mental health services to diverse clientele. Canopy Mental Health & Consulting is an equal opportunity employer. Canopy Mental Health & Consulting does not discriminate in employment with regard to race, color, religion, national origin, citizenship status, ancestry, age, sex (including sexual harassment), sexual orientation, marital status, physical or mental disability, military status or unfavorable discharge from military service or any other characteristic protected by law.
