Psychometrist F/T Day

About the role

Functions as a fully qualified Psychometrist, administering individual psychological and neuropsychological tests including measures of motor, sensory and cognitive abilities, managing patient behavior during testing, and modifying administration within scope of practice to accommodate specific patient capacities. Scores tests, provides behavioral observation relevant to test interpretation, and monitors and maintains departmental testing supplies.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and scores neuropsychological evaluations, developmental and adaptive assessments.
• Develops a testing session plan based on the supervising psychologist’s prescription, incorporating the patient’s unique physical, cognitive, psychological requirements, and implications for test-test interactions.
• Administers tests of physical capacity, sensory processing, spatial and language skills, and attention using standardized instructions.
• Administers and scores personality test instruments and intelligence assessments.
• Follows standardized instructions for administration of individual questions and tasks.
• Selects appropriate normative base for the patient and applies standardized scoring criteria to rate patients’ individual responses, converting scores into appropriate metrics (Z-score; T-Score; standard score).
• Coordinates patient activity during psychological evaluation by monitoring behavioral, emotional and physical status and adjusting the assessment plan to include all prescribed tests.
• Consults with the psychologist throughout the testing session and modifies the assessment as needed.
• Schedules testing procedures and assumes responsibility for billing psychometric procedures.
• Coordinates testing with existing medical treatments to avoid conflicts.
• Gathers background data prior to administration of testing materials and consults with the assigned psychologist regarding any specific test modifications required.
• Gathers information from the treatment team regarding accommodations for physical or behavioral issues.
• Prepares test materials for interpretation and collates completed psychological/neuropsychological files.
• Maintains testing supplies, conducts timely and accurate inventory of supplies on hand, and promptly initiates requisitions for needed supplies.
• Coordinates acquisition of testing materials with Prisma Supply and Distribution / Accounting for purchase orders / check requests with publishers of testing materials.
• Maintains supply of current psychological assessment and materials catalogues.
• Apprises Program Director of costs for completion of capital Budget Forms.
• Assists psychologists in researching and acquiring additional information regarding tests, software, and costs.
• Requests literature and samples from publishers for psychologists to review and apprises them of status changes of assessment materials currently being used.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, School Psychology, Social Work, Education, Mental Health or related field of study.
• Master’s degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of psychological testing principles.
