Position Classification

This position is part-time and shared with another part-time coordinator. The clinical coordinator will have a schedule of 12-24 hours per week in the clinic during the fall/spring semesters and 4-8 hours per week in the clinic during the summer semester. Hours will vary by semester in accordance with faculty clinic coverage availability. Hours will include daytime and evening times.

Schedule

This is a part-time position funded by college course fees so that we have an appropriately licensed therapist oversee the clinic and supervise the clinical practices of our graduate students from across several programs.

College/Department Overview

The department of psychology offers graduate training at the specialist level in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology. Portions of that training take place in our on-campus clinic, located on the third floor of the Education Building. The Psychology Clinic is a state-of-the-art training facility, with the ability to do live observation via two-way mirrors or via multiple monitors, digital recordings of meetings with clients, and even live supervision via bug in the ear systems. Preference will be given to applicants with an earned master’s degree awarded by a regionally/nationally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field of counseling psychology, school psychology, or another specialty area of mental health, as well as current licensure in Oklahoma as a mental health professional.

Primary responsibilities

  • Assisting with daily operations in the UCO Psychology Clinic
  • Supervising emergent clinical issues for clients seen in the clinic
  • Providing clinical supervision of advanced graduate students
  • Evaluating student performance as needed
  • Maintaining department and student records in accordance with university, department, and program policies

Qualifications/Experience Required

  • An earned master’s degree awarded by a regionally/nationally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field of counseling psychology, school psychology, or another specialty area of mental health, as well as current licensure in Oklahoma as a mental health professional.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred

  • Experience in managing a clinical setting
  • Working with clinicians in training
  • The evaluation and management of emergency mental health situations (e.g., suicidal ideation, suicidal intent, intent to harm others)
  • In using evidence-based psychological practice
