Psychologist, Senior Clinical - Mental Health Center

About the role

The Mental Health Center is seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist to join their team. This position will be responsible for administering psychological evaluations to children and adults with an emphasis on evaluations to 0–5-year-olds. In this position, you will also complete developmental disability (DD), autism, and neuropsychological evaluations to both children and adults.

Responsibilities

• Administer psychological evaluations to children 0 - 5 years old.
• Complete DD, autism, and neuropsychological evaluations to youth (birth to 17) and adults.
• Conduct court-ordered and voluntary psychological and parenting evaluations, including administration/interpretation of personality and intelligence tests, to provide a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s mental health needs and to develop treatment recommendations.
• Record patient progress notes and attendance.
• Provide informal and formal consultation on diagnosis, treatment, and other psychological issues to other mental health professionals, government agencies, community organization, and/or schools.
• Review and sign off on psychological evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes compiled by non-licensed psychologists and graduate students.
• Aid in maintaining standards for clinic accreditation by health management organizations, internship program accreditation by the American Psychological Association, and state licensure.
• Complete necessary documentation to bill health management organizations and other payers for client services.
• Provide court testimony pertaining to psychological assessments of clients.

Requirements

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-approved program with appropriate clinical training and one or more years of post-doctoral experience as a clinical psychologist in a medical or mental health setting appropriate to the area of specialization. Must be licensed psychologist by the Minnesota Board of Psychology.

Qualifications

• Experience: Working with individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds. Working with persons involved in child protection and juvenile justice systems. Assessing for developmental disabilities in children, adolescents, and/or adults including intellectual disability and autism, with a focus on 0 - 5-year-olds. Administering and interpreting comprehensive psychological evaluations to individuals with mental illness, complex trauma, substance use, and behavioral disorders. Engaging in psychological testing with children/adolescents and/or knowledge of early developmental needs, healthy attachment, and healthy parenting practices. Utilizing Epic or other electronic health record systems (EHR).
• Ability to: Communicate both verbally and in writing in Spanish, Somali, or Hmong. Utilize interpreter services.

Skills

• Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.

Location and Hours

This position is located on-site at the Mental Health Center, located in the South Hennepin County Human Service Center at 2215 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. The first 6 months will be fully on-site while training. After that, it will shift to a hybrid schedule (3 days on-site/2 days remote).

About the Mental Health Center

The Mental Health Center is licensed by the state of Minnesota and is staffed by psychiatrists, advanced practice registered nurses, clinical psychologists, psychiatric nurses, clinical social workers, and other health care professionals. The MHC’s team of support and provider professionals provides comprehensive outpatient behavioral health services to adults with serious mental illness as well as those with co-occurring substance use disorders. Additionally, the clinic services children, youth, and families, many of whom are involved with Child Protection or Juvenile Justice.
