About the role

DOC is seeking to recruit two (2) part-time psychologists to support the department's mission of maintaining a safe and secure environment while providing professional psychological services.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate individuals' emotional and intellectual functioning
  • Maintain clinical records and files in accordance with SOAP standards
  • Prepare written reports of psychological findings for clinical records and case files
  • Consult with psychiatrists, social workers, judges, and other relevant stakeholders regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and case disposition recommendations
  • Participate in psychological and multidisciplinary staff conferences
  • Prepare case documentation and written summaries
  • Testify in court or other administrative proceedings when required

Requirements

  • Completion of two years of graduate work in psychology, or a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, forensic psychology, clinical health psychology, or neuro-psychology
  • Two years of satisfactory full-time experience in psychology, gained after admission to the accredited graduate program, under the supervision of a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist
  • Experience in personality testing, individual intelligence testing, psychopathology, and psychological and/or behavioral intervention
  • 240 hours of experience under the supervision of a licensed psychologist in personality testing, individual intelligence testing, and psychological and/or behavioral intervention
  • A valid license as a Psychologist issued by the New York State Department of Education
