Psychologist I - Clinical Services at Fort Logan
About the role
The Psychologist I position works in the 24-hour State psychiatric hospital with individuals voluntarily and involuntarily committed for treatment. Patients receive inpatient treatment for severe and persistent mental illness, often with additional complexities such as traumatic brain injury and trauma disorders.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead group therapy sessions tailored to patient-specific needs.
- Conduct comprehensive psychological testing and consult with treatment teams on appropriate referrals and testing results.
- Provide clinical guidance and consultation regarding treatment goals, progress, and stagnation.
- Participate in treatment planning and contribute to the formulation of patient-specific goals.
- Monitor and modify individualized behavior plans and programs as needed.
- Document in the electronic health record and provide feedback to patients and the treatment team.
- Contribute to hospital-wide events, in-service training, and program development.
- Complete certification evaluations and provide court testimony.
- Perform psychological assessments, including standardized suicide risk assessments, intellectual testing, and comprehensive psychodiagnostics.
- Train and supervise predoctoral psychology externs and interns.
- Support the hospital's internship program and train predoctoral psychology students.
- Assist the treatment team in determining whether a formal psychological assessment may inform treatment planning, diagnosis, and disposition plans.
- Communicate findings to the Court by letters, petitions, and expert-witness testimony as needed.
- Contribute to hospital-wide ad hoc activities and milieu support.
Requirements
Current, valid licensure as a Psychologist from the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners. One (1) year of experience as a licensed psychologist or permitted psychologist candidate. Psychology Doctorate (Ph.D., Psy.D.). Previous State Experience.
Qualifications
No Substitutions. Relevant years of state service experience preferred.
Skills
Knowledge of psychological theories and techniques, ability to conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, skill in developing and leading group therapy sessions, experience with inpatient, forensic, or SPMI populations, and proficiency in clinical consultation and treatment planning.
