About the Role

Under the direction of the Director of Behavioral Health Services, this position provides psychological services for patients in the Child Development Center.

Qualifications

Education: Doctorate in Psychology

Experience:

  • Three years postgraduate experience preferred
  • Two years' experience working with children and families from disenfranchised communities preferred, one year required
  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental concerns preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Understand the social, educational, and developmental needs of children and families from underserved communities, including knowledge of the effects of structural inequality on mental health outcomes
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with and ability to use an electronic medical record
  • Demonstrated skill in clinical interviewing, diagnostic evaluation, and counseling with children ages 2 to 18 years and their families
  • Demonstrated skills in consultation and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, patients, and the community
  • Ability to treat people from diverse backgrounds
  • Awareness of cultural differences and need for creativity in choosing treatment approaches
  • Demonstrate a trauma-informed approach to care

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist by the State of Missouri
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Completes psychological assessments, testing, and provides therapy to Child Development Center patients and their families
  • Monitors case records to ensure quality and professionalism
  • Completes documentation in the electronic medical record within Affinia Healthcare expectations to enhance communication between team members and understanding of treatment goals and progress
  • Develops and aids in the implementation of treatment programs
  • Collaborates with care coordinator to ensure families' psychosocial needs are addressed and utilizes input from case manager when developing treatment plans
  • Collaborates with outside agencies, outpatient programs, and other treatment providers to enhance patient care
  • Provides telehealth consultation and services as needed and appropriate
  • Participates in multidisciplinary peer review with Child Development Center and health center staff, including pediatric providers
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Department Director

Marginal Functions:

  • Participates in required meetings
  • Organizes and implements staff development for CDC team
  • Assists in integrating the Child Development Center into Affinia Healthcare primary medical and dental care as needed
  • Participates in Affinia Healthcare organizational committees as needed
  • Supervises students and volunteers as needed
