Psychologist

Responsibilities

• Provide psychological treatment and support to the facility residents.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in providing assessment and treatment of mental and emotional disorders of patients.
• Work with inmates to prepare them for reintegration into society, providing support for finding housing, employment, and other resources.
• Provide counseling and support to help inmates manage emotional challenges, cope with incarceration, and develop coping mechanisms.
• Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential dangers to inmates and the public, informing decisions about housing, treatment, and release.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current, unrestricted Psychologist license in AL.
• Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
• Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders.
• Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals, correctional staff, and judges.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
• Display integrity, professionalism, and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
