Job Summary
The Corrections Psychologist at Camden County DOC will deliver psychotherapy, diagnostic, and therapeutic services in a contract facility. The Psychologist will also serve on the multi-disciplinary treatment team and communicate with other medical disciplines.
Position Responsibilities
- Performs and documents routine psychiatric intakes, assessments, and evaluations on inmate patients.
- Supports and directs the psychiatric and behavioral health care delivery system.
- Meets regularly with the site mental health and medical staff for mental health issues.
- Conducts individual and group psychotherapy.
- Contributes to behavioral health program development, policies, and evaluation.
- Records all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner.
- Promotes a therapeutic environment to ensure inmate patients are treated professionally, ethically, and tactfully.
- Confers with patient's relatives regarding illness and treatments.
- Collaborates with Advanced Practice Nurses.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Completion from an accredited medical school facility with a degree in Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor Psychology (Psy.D.).
- License: Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the state.
- Experience: Previous professional experience in the mental field indicating knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders and psychological evaluation techniques, including psychological assessment instruments.
- Skills: Excellent critical thinking and assessment skills; assertive, empathetic, and able to provide care objectively; strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills; basic computer skills; ability to prepare written reports and handle legal depositions and court hearings; maintains an active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
