Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric services, including diagnostic work-up, medication evaluation and follow-up.
- Provide psychiatric consultation to CAPS non-medical practitioners.
- Provide psychiatric consultation to CHS primary care staff.
- Provide crisis intervention and brief therapy on a limited basis.
- Supervise psychiatry residents and/or psychiatric nurse practitioner interns as needed.
- Demonstrate excellence in clinical skills.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
- Strong diagnostic and psychopharmacological skills.
- Ability to work with students in crisis situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other psychiatric staff on shared patient responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited school of medicine or approved school of osteopathic medicine;
- Completion of residency in psychiatry;
- Board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry;
- Current licensure by the Arizona State Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners, or will obtain licensure by date of hire;
- Current DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certification;
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in providing psychiatric consultation in a multi-disciplinary setting, with both medical and non-medical practitioners.
- Experience in a university setting or working with college students.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and background in working with ethnic minority and international patient populations.
- Alternative language competency.
- Training and experience in delivery of outpatient psychiatric services in a system setting.
