Psychiatrist (Part Time)

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric services, including diagnostic work-up, medication evaluation and follow-up.
• Provide psychiatric consultation to CAPS non-medical practitioners.
• Provide psychiatric consultation to CHS primary care staff.
• Provide crisis intervention and brief therapy on a limited basis.
• Supervise psychiatry residents and/or psychiatric nurse practitioner interns as needed.
• Demonstrate excellence in clinical skills.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

• Strong diagnostic and psychopharmacological skills.
• Ability to work with students in crisis situations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other psychiatric staff on shared patient responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited school of medicine or approved school of osteopathic medicine;
• Completion of residency in psychiatry;
• Board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry;
• Current licensure by the Arizona State Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners, or will obtain licensure by date of hire;
• Current DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certification;
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in providing psychiatric consultation in a multi-disciplinary setting, with both medical and non-medical practitioners.
• Experience in a university setting or working with college students.
• Demonstrated cultural competence and background in working with ethnic minority and international patient populations.
• Alternative language competency.
• Training and experience in delivery of outpatient psychiatric services in a system setting.
