About the role

Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization and/or medication.

Responsible for providing clinical services to patients at the facility.

Practice within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate, facility policy or procedures.

Review medical information on patients to ensure medical stability and to offer medical recommendations.

Evaluate patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.

Treat or direct treatment of patients, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.

Review and complete medical information for individual care plans, documents services and information in a timely manner.

Maintain confidential documentation, compliance and billing in accordance with the policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate and facility policies.
  • Evaluate patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.
  • Treat or direct treatment of patients using various psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
  • Document medical information for individual care plans and services in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidential documentation, compliance and billing in accordance with policy and procedures.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) required.
  • One or more years’ post-graduate degree practice preferred.
  • Licensed in the state in which the facility operates.
  • Board certification in psychiatry.
  • Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working.

Qualifications

  • Must have a current DEA license to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Must be licensed to practice medicine in the state where the facility operates.
  • Must have completed a residency program in psychiatry.

Skills

  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of medical protocols and regulations.
