About the role

The Psychiatrist III-Part Time position at the Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or have behavioral problems. This role involves conducting psychiatric assessments, administering treatments, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments and administer treatments as per SSLC policies and procedures, in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
  • Manage acute psychiatric care, including authorizing emergency restraints and coordinating psychiatric hospitalizations.
  • Review and analyze system data to ensure treatment plans are individualized and aligned with the IDT's decisions.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and discussions to inform and create buy-in to necessary changes and implement plans.
  • Collaborate with other psychiatrists, medical staff, and behavioral health specialists to develop behavioral interventions and coordinate care.
  • Ensure compliance with HHS policies, state and federal rules, and ICF-IID standards.
  • Participate in various committees to ensure quality care and adhere to the Department of Justice Settlement Agreement.

Requirements

Must be licensed (unrestricted) as a medical doctor by the State of Texas and be Board Certified or Board eligible in Psychiatry in the state of Texas. Must also have current unrestricted registration certificate from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

Qualifications

Knowledge of methods and procedures in general medicine and psychiatry, principles of behavior treatment, state formulary guidelines, and the ability to work with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a large residential setting. Skills in medical and psychiatric diagnostic and treatment tools, electronic healthcare systems, and Microsoft Office products. Ability to assess, diagnose, and prescribe/supervise treatment, solve medically difficult issues, and manage “polypharmacy.”

Pay

$10,485.50 - $11,560.25 per month

Schedule

Day shift, with up to 5% travel and occasional overtime.
