PSYCHIATRIST - Geriatrics

Agency: Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services — Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute (Marion, VA). Pay Band 8.

About the role

The staff psychiatrist serves as the leader of a Treatment Team, provides direct medical and psychiatric care for patients assigned to the Treatment Team, and provides consultation to colleagues, supervision of nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants as requested, as well as participating in the Medical Professional Staff organization.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Current DEA certificate
• Completion of an approved residency program in Psychiatry
• Current BLS or ACLS certification (ACLS required for on-call MOD coverage at night, weekends, or holidays)
• Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (preferred, not required)
• Ability to demonstrate satisfactory training, skill, expertise, and knowledge in the treatment of psychiatric patients
• Work experience with inpatient psychiatric populations (preferred)

Pay

Hiring range: $239,804 – $292,745 per year (Pay Band 8).
